At Wedgewood Golf Course in Halstead, Kansas, the game of golf is more than just a sport—it’s a community. For the Halstead High School golf team, this course isn’t just where they play, it’s where they grow.
Senior Maxx Linton knows that without it, golf may not be a possibility at HHS.
“It’s a great pleasure to have Wedgewood at our disposal. With it only being about a 5 minute drive out of town it is very easy access to go there, and its just great to have a course that is well maintained and has great supervisors running it that allow us to come," Linton said.
Through a unique partnership, Wedgewood gives student-athletes something rare—trust and opportunity. Players are trusted to practice on their own, building independence, responsibility, and confidence.
“It’s in our Halstead community and I think they like to help out the Halstead community and it helps out our team and just makes us better overall by letting us come out and practice,” Linton said.
And the support doesn’t stop there. Wedgewood offers players a full-year membership for just $70—making the game accessible to more students.

Linton qualified for the state golf tournament last year, and he has Wedgewood to thank.
“It’s impacted my game greatly. It’s allowed me to go out and play during the summer and help out my score and just help me get better this summer and offseason without having to pay crazy prices, and as a high schooler it helps out a lot,” Linton said.
It’s a partnership built on trust, opportunity, and a shared love for the game. At Wedgewood, they’re not just shaping golfers—they’re shaping the future.
